Half Full/Half Empty: Gallatin Valley’s Water Future – 05.04.2011

The Gallatin Valley has been the fastest growing area in the state of Montana over the past two decades, and one of the fastest-growing counties in the entire country. With all the great things that make this such a great in which to live – stunning views, pristine rivers, working farms and ranches, plentiful recreation opportunities, vibrant downtowns, great neighborhoods – we know we’re going to keep growing. In fact, we’ll grow by about 60,000 people and 25,000 houses in the next 20 years or so.

Do we have an adequate water supply to handle this growth? Will there be enough water for our homes, our farms and ranches, and our rivers?

This forum will bring stakeholders from the county and all the cities in the Gallatin Valley together in an informed, constructive conversation about our water future. Panelists representing the major water users in the valley will offer their perspectives; water experts will describe solutions used by other communities in the west.
