In this month’s newsletter we’re proud to feature Larimer County, which will be honored with the Colorado Chapter of the American Planning Association’s Growing Water Smart Award for its Water Master Plan – a model for integrating water and land use at the County level.
We are also pleased to share the new Water Secure Communities program, a deepened engagement for regional water security in response to the risks associated with drought in Colorado. This work has been funded by the Colorado state legislature, and is officially underway with our partners at the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Last week we held our first Advisory Committee meeting for this effort, and what stood out was the dedication of leaders representing diverse stakeholders from across the state, coming together to share ideas and explore the challenges and opportunities of building regional water resilience.
In this month’s edition, you’ll also find funding assistance and opportunities across our program geographies, including EPA funding for midsize to large drinking water infrastructure (applications are due Oct. 6!) and an upcoming Peregrine Accelerator opportunity for the Baja-Sonora Borderlands.
