Momentum is building across the Growing Water Smart community. We’re feeling energized following our recent Colorado workshop, where teams from the West Slope came together with focus, urgency, and a shared commitment to integrated water and land use planning. Their drive reminds us why this work matters and how powerful it is when communities lead the way.
One team that continues to inspire is the Town of Clarkdale, Arizona. Since participating in our January workshop, Clarkdale has taken the impressive step of incorporating its Growing Water Smart action plan goals into its community-wide strategic plan. Nineteen specific water-smart actions are now embedded in the town’s priorities. This is an incredible example of sustaining momentum beyond the workshop.
This spirit of progress will fuel our upcoming binational convening in Douglas, Arizona and Agua Prieta, Sonora in early June. The energy, creativity, and follow-through of the communities we work with is a constant source of motivation for our team and a reminder of what’s possible when momentum turns into action.
