The Bureau of Reclamation recently released its Final Environmental Impact Statement for new Colorado River Management Guidelines, laying out very different management options for the river than we have previously seen. While the selected path forward is not yet clear, this news is a reminder of just how critical it is to plan ahead for diversified water supplies, reduced demand, and redundancy at the local and regional levels.
