A new year brings new opportunities, and we are excited to share the latest accomplishments and upcoming work within the Growing Water Smart network.
The upcoming Peer Network webinar on March 3 will convene an expert panel to discuss the increase in development proposals from large water users, including data centers, and what this trend means for local water supplies and land use. The session will explore available policy tools and community strategies.
We are also pleased to highlight the progress of Douglas, Arizona, and Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, following their recent US-Mexico border workshop. Through continued collaboration, the two cities have advanced planning for local wastewater reuse. This work is helping reduce water pollution in Agua Prieta while supporting Douglas in diversifying its water supply, marking an important step forward for both communities.
In addition, the California Growing Water Smart Metrics Program is now underway. This effort supports California’s urban water retailers in tracking water conservation and land use integration activities and aligning their work with state conservation goals.
