Green Drinks Tucson – October

October 15, 2026

Howdy Green Drinkers!

Join us for a monthly networking event with local Tucson nonprofits and environmental stewards.

This month, we will be meeting at MotoSonora Brewing Company on Thursday, October 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

We will hear from Anna Darian from Patagonia Area Resource Alliance and Mara Tasker, director of The River

Anna Darian is the Executive Director of the Patagonia Area Resource Alliance and an advocate for greater accountability and reform in Arizona’s mining industry. A third-generation Arizonan with deep family ties to the state’s mining history, she brings both personal perspective and policy expertise to her work advancing stronger protections for communities impacted by mining. Anna previously served as Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement for Save the Scenic Santa Ritas, where she helped organize regional opposition to major mining proposals and elevate community concerns in public decision-making processes.

Patagonia Area Resource Alliance (PARA) is a grassroots nonprofit founded in 2011 to protect the Patagonia Mountains and Sonoita Creek Watershed from the impacts of industrial mining. PARA works to hold agencies accountable to environmental laws and ensure mining activities meet rigorous, science-based standards.

The River is an urgent, intimate documentary exploring the Colorado River crisis through the personal stories of those who depend on it for survival, at a moment when legal negotiations will determine the future for hundreds of millions of people. After five million years, the Colorado River is fighting to survive. A lifeline for millions, it has been overdrawn, mismanaged, and pushed to the brink by a rapidly changing climate. Bound by the shrinking River, an unlikely ensemble – Tribal leaders, farmers, ranchers, and families – fight to hold onto the lives they love and adapt to a drier future. As the rules governing the Colorado expire and a generational decision looms, The River doesn’t take sides; it asks us to listen – to one another, and to the River itself. The River is a Songbird Studios Production, in association with the Walton Family Foundation, Bob’s Your Uncle, and Four Points Family Foundation.
