Ylenia Aguilar is the Senior Campaign Organizer for Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign in Arizona, leading grassroots organizing and utility accountability efforts across Southern and Central Arizona. She works with residents, businesses, and local leaders to advance clean energy policies and ensure frontline communities have a voice in Arizona’s energy future. Ylenia also serves on the Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board.
Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign is the nation’s largest grassroots clean energy campaign, working to retire polluting coal plants and replace them with clean, renewable energy. In Arizona, the Beyond Coal Campaign partners with frontline communities, environmental advocates, and business and civic leaders to hold utilities accountable, advance clean energy planning, and ensure the transition away from fossil fuels is equitable and community-driven. Through public engagement, regulatory advocacy, and coalition organizing, the campaign works to secure a healthier, more affordable energy future for all Arizonans.
Sam Cloud is the Clean Energy Organizer for Arizona at Greenlight America. With a background in social work, nonprofit leadership, and grassroots organizing, she has built coalitions, trained volunteers, and worked closely with rural communities across Arizona to advance clean energy, civic engagement, and equitable community development. Sam is especially passionate about helping local voices shape policy decisions and ensuring the clean energy transition delivers real benefits for the communities most affected by it.
Greenlight America is an independent, philanthropically funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves as a mobilization hub for local and state-based groups working to get clean energy projects built in their communities. Greenlight supports partners across the country by helping identify critical local permitting fights, mobilize grassroots supporters, and equip communities with the tools and strategies they need to advocate effectively for responsible clean energy development.
