Water is at the center of some of the most consequential conversations happening across the West right now. Colorado River negotiations, persistent drought, and the growing complexity of balancing community needs with available water supply remind us that the work of building water security has never been more urgent or more necessary.
That urgency is exactly what drives the Growing Water Smart program and our partners forward. In this issue, we are proud to share updates from across our work in Colorado and Arizona. In Longmont, Colorado, a dedicated cross-departmental team is building on years of Growing Water Smart participation with renewed goals and a refreshed action plan. Jerome, Arizona, a small but mighty town, is turning workshop insights into real regulatory change, with zoning and subdivision code updates that will shape how development and water intersect for years to come. And in Denver, leaders from across Colorado came together for the third Water Secure Communities Advisory Committee Meeting, bringing the expertise and commitment this program needs to succeed.
The challenges ahead are real. So are the communities of people working to meet them. We are grateful to be in this work alongside you.
